Pathological Geomorphology

    Paleodelta in the Ilemi Triangle. African Rift Valley

    Ok, so maybe all deltas are kinda pathological...some just more so. This one from the Ilemi Triangle really caught my eye, given its nearly ideal form and the lack of a lake at its terminus.

    Overall this entire region appears to have an intriguing paleohydrological history of larger discharges, drainage captures, drainage integration, and large scale avulsions. Really worth a detailed look. Some of the patterns are conspicuous. 

    Admittedly, I know nothing of this area. First time I have checked it out, but I am intrigued.

    Wow! Looks amazing. As far as I know this area is unexplored but it has been administered by Kenya for the last ~50yrs. I am not sure how safe the area is though..Sudan and Ethiopia also claim it.
